Community Development

Community Development is concerned with the growth of human related aspects of a community. This includes housing, health-care, safety, and recreational opportunities. Each element requires thoughtful consideration on the part of community members, provider organizations, and government. Community Development projects in the City of Parkersburg are primarily financed through Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) or HOME funds. These funds are made available to the City on an annual basis through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. When these funds are not sufficient to complete a project, the City will seek additional resources from a network of local, state and federal agencies. Over the years, the City has partnered with many organizations to make Parkersburg a more safe, healthy and prosperous place to live.
