Habitat for Humanity (Wood County)In addition to building affordable for homes for qualified individuals, Habitat for Humanity operates a Restore facility in Parkersburg. The Restore facility takes donations from the community for resell. The facility focuses on used and/or leftover building materials, equipment, and appliances at a reduced price. Habitat is also a Certified Housing Development Organization (CHDO) with the Parkersburg-Wood County Housing Consortium and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. Habitat receives an annual allocation from the Consortium to build affordable housing units in the community. For more information, click here.
Community Resources Inc.This organization’s goal is to strengthen the community by providing leadership, education, resources, and opportunities that improve quality of life. CRI offers Family Development Counseling, Housing Counseling to first-time homebuyers that get a SHOP loan through the Parkersburg/Wood County Home Consortium, Weatherizing homes, as well as several other programs that focus on helping people overcome barriers and become self-sufficient. Westbrook Health ServicesThis organization provides assistance to individuals and households in need. The City financially supports programs aimed at preventing people from becoming homeless or providing temporary housing to people that do not have shelter. Westbrook also makes bus passes available to individuals at a reduced cost. These funds are made available through the City’s Community Development Block Grant Program.
