Community Development

Community Development is concerned with the growth of human-related aspects of a community. This includes housing, public safety, and recreational opportunities. Each element requires thoughtful consideration on the part of community members, provider organizations, and government.

Community Development projects in the City of Parkersburg are primarily financed through Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) or HOME Investment Partnership funds. These funds are made available to the City on an annual basis through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. When these funds are not sufficient to complete a project, the City will seek to leverage additional resources from a network of local, state, and federal agencies.
